Ensenada Mexico Winery: Casa FRIDA Valle de Guadalupe

·

,

Casa Frida is the Ensenada Mexico winery you have to visit.

Ensenada is home to the “Valle de Guadalupe,” or Guadalupe Valley, where most of Mexico’s wine is produced. Visiting this wine region is kind of like visiting the Napa Valley of Mexico. Honoring the region’s culture is what Casa Frida is known for. It’s more than just a vineyard and tasting room.

It’s also an artistic showcase with different artworks showing up around the property. There are even a few dwellings you can rent for an overnight stay. With so many different experiences to try, you’ll find something interesting at this Ensenada Mexico winery.

Visit Casa Frida’s website for more info or to book a visit.

About Casa Frida’s wine ethos

Casa Frida’s wine-making approach takes inspiration from the Guadalupe Valley culture and Frida Kahlo herself. For instance, they make a red wine called “Diego” that’s named after Frida’s long-time love interest.

The wine selection includes traditionally Latin wines like Tempranillo blended with French and Italian styles like Malbec and Chenin. You can explore Casa Frida’s wine selection on their shop website.

Taking you “from art to wine”

Above all, the winery commits to their goal of taking you “from art to wine.” The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive is the vibrant art and landscaping in the outdoor area.

The colors are so bright and vibrant just like the work of Frida Kahlo. I couldn’t help but notice how those colors contrasted against the desert landscape. I’m lucky that I went on a day where the sun was shining bright. Something about the sunlight made all of the colors pop even more.

For example, in the picture above, you’ll see these life-size figurines in traditional Mexican clothing. I loved the humor of how quirky they look while still being beautiful.

Likewise, this giant red heart has been pieced by many blades. To me, it represents the heart of Frida herself and the pain she endured in her life. To sum up, if you’re looking to get inspired by art and culture, Casa Frida is a place you have to see.

Upscale Mexican food at Corazón D’Petra restaurant

Next, I want to tell you about the on-site restaurant, Corazón D’Petra. The menu features elegant Mexican dishes inspired by regional cuisine. You can sit in the restaurant and order from the a la carte menu or opt for the tasting menu instead.

My friends and I decided to share several a la carte items. I highly recommend the seafood – the ceviche and aguachile did not disappoint. This restaurant is an experience you can’t miss when visiting the Guadalupe Valley.

Don’t just take my word for it. Corazón D’Petra was listed in the 2024 Michelin Guide.

Dazzling views of the Guadalupe Valley

Head over to the Granada Terrace and see views of the mountains and valley all around. You can order drinks and small plates while enjoying the scenery.

This winery is a great place to go even if you don’t wine. They offer a full service bar in both the restaurant and terrace so you can order your drink of choice.

Explore the vineyard and outdoor landscape

I don’t think I’ve emphasized how massive this winery is. In addition to several fields of grape vines, there’s a large landscaped area where you can take photos. You’ll want to set aside a few hours to spend here, especially if you want to see everything.

In conclusion, Casa Frida is the best choice for your trip to an Ensenada Mexico winery. The grounds are gorgeous, the art is stunning and there are many different activities to experience.
