Wine tours and fall foliage in Salem, Oregon

Escape to cozy comfort in the Pacific Northwest with a fall trip to Salem, Oregon. It’s the capital of Oregon, located just south of Portland (about an hour drive).

The area is known for lush green forests and famous wine region called Willamette Valley. If you visit, plan an outdoor adventure in one of the many state and national parks. The fall foliage is stunning in places like Bush’s Pasture Park and Deepwood Gardens. Other nature areas include Riverfront City Park, Oregon State Capitol State Park and Turner Lake.

Sightseeing in New York City

Fall is the best time to visit the most famous city in America. New York City can be really cold in winter and really hot in summer.

In the fall, however, you can comfortably explore the city from Times Square to the Empire State Building. You can also stroll through Central Park to see the transforming leaves.

The city has tons of events occurring in fall. The New York Film Festival takes place in September and October. There’s even a Halloween parade in Greenwich Village for those who love spooky stuff.

It’s also a great time for sports. Depending on the month, you can see a baseball game at Yankee Stadium or watch the Knicks play at Madison Square Garden.

Food and fun in Greenville, South Carolina

Looking for a low-key fall travel destination? Consider visiting Greenville, South Carolina. Its revamped downtown area brings together modern amenities and southern charm. Located on the Reedy River, Greenville is intertwined with flowing waterfalls and suspension bridges you can wander through for hours.

It’s known for eclectic restaurants with local and international cuisines. Sample southern favorites at spots like Sassafras Southern Bistro or Bosco Baby’s. My favorite restaurant is Hans & Franz Biergarten, a German restaurant that hosts events throughout Oktoberfest season.

Greenville is also nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, so there are tons of nearby nature trails. I recommend Paris Mountain State Park, where you can swim, fish, and hike up to see views of the Blue Ridge.

Southwest scenery in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Art, history and food are everywhere in Santa Fe, especially in the fall months. The mountain air is crisp in the mornings and comfortable in the afternoon.

There are also many fall festivals that celebrate local culture. Visit in October to experience the Santa Fe Indigenous Peoples’ Day Weekend Celebration. If you’re up for more, fall also brings the Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta and the Santa Fe Harvest Festival.

Eclectic culture in San Francisco, California

You can experience many different things with a fall trip to San Francisco. From waterfront views to cultural enclaves, your trip will be jam-packed with excitement.
